Choosing between a prefabricated site office and a traditional concrete-block building affects both your budget and your schedule. Here is how the two compare for contractors and facility owners working on active project sites in Saudi Arabia.
Build Time
A prefabricated office typically arrives on site and is ready for use within 1 to 3 weeks of order confirmation, since the unit is built in a factory while site works continue in parallel. A block-built office involves foundations, masonry, curing time, and finishes, which usually takes 6 to 10 weeks depending on size and crew availability. For projects with a fixed mobilization date, that difference alone can determine which option is workable.
Cost Over the Project Life
Prefab units cost more per square meter to purchase or lease upfront, but they can be relocated and reused on the next project, which lowers the effective cost per deployment for contractors running multiple sites. Concrete-block buildings cost less per square meter in materials but cannot be moved, so the full cost is written off against a single project. For a site office expected to stand for less than two years, prefab is usually the lower total cost; for a permanent facility, block construction can work out cheaper over time.
Which Option Fits Your Project
Choose prefab when the schedule is tight, the site will be reused or relocated, power and site access are limited, or the office needs to be ready before permanent utilities are connected. Choose block construction when the building is permanent, part of the final facility rather than a temporary one, or subject to a specific architectural or planning requirement. Many Reqaz projects use a mix: prefab units for early mobilization and site offices, with permanent block buildings following as the project matures.
